Lower Dover Community Dataset
This dataset complements the dissertation The Dynamics of Political Eclipse: The Shifting Roles and Strategies of Classic Maya Intermediate Elites by John P. Walden (which can be downloaded from the University of Pittsburgh's Electronic Theses and Dissertations Database). It provides detailed data on ceramics, lithics, faunal material, burials, structures, plazas, and radiocarbon dating at the Maya polity of Lower Dover, Belize.

Numeric data are provided in two file formats. Comma-delimited text files should be easy to import into spreadsheet, database, and statistical programs for manipulation and analysis. Excel spreadsheets are easier to browse, and can also be imported into many programs. The numeric data files are as follows:
Spatial information is provided in two file formats. AutoCAD (Release 12) .DXF files which can be read by many CAD and GIS programs and as Esri ArcGIS .SHP files.
The coordinate system for all spatial data is WGS84 UTM Zone 16N and units are in meters. In the files presented here, these coordinates have been transformed so as to obscure the real-world location of archaeological sites for their protection in compliance with Belize's Institute of Archaeology guidelines.
